MY CHOSEN FILM!!!!
My chose film is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was either this, Edward Scissor hands or Big Fish. I hated Big Fish and I thought that Edward Scissorhands has been done before and theres so much on it so I wanted to do something a bit different. In the film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory it looks into the childhood of Willy Wonker, which shows you that he had a difficult relationship with his father and runs away from home. This is a classic move from Tim Burton to have the star (Johnny Depp) have a troubled childhood, which mirrors his.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite films so I'm hoping because of that reason I wont have that much trouble with it!

Tim Burton's childhood

Timothy William Burton was born on 25th August 1958 (age 51) Burbank, California, U.S.
Occupation: Director, Producer, Writer
It is no secret that Tim Burton had a troubled childhood as he portrays through his films.
Tim Burton grew up in Burbank in Los Angeles and says that he gets shivers just thinking of the place. Burton's bedroom windows looked over "the lawn" and for some reason he doesn't know still to this day his parents bricked them up and just left a little slit at the top of each of them and that was his windows, so he used to have to climb up on his desk just to see out of them. He calls it his "windowless childhood".
my new question..
To what extent is Tim Burton's childhood experiences significant in defining his auteur signature?
A close study of Tim Burton exploring the extent to which his childhood experiences are significant in defining his auteur signature.
I found out that me and ruby couldn't actually work together so I've changed my question to the one above, I think I will find this one more interesting and Ialso think it suits me more to do something like this.
I will still look into child psychology and dysfunctional families but base my research on Tim Burton instead of dysfunctional families in general.

Dysfunctional Families...
Wikipedia's definition of a dysfunctional family:-
A dysfunctional family is a family in which conflict, misbehavior and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur continually and regularly, leading other members to accommodate such actions. Children sometimes grow up in such families with the understanding that such an arrangement is normal. Dysfunctional families are primarily a result of co-dependent adults, and also affected by the alcoholism, substance abuse, or other addictions of parents, parents' untreated mental illnesses/defects or personality disorders, or the parents emulating their own dysfunctional parents and dysfunctional family experiences.
Dysfunctional family members have common symptoms and behavior patterns as a result of their common experiences within the family structure. This tends to reinforce the dysfunctional behavior, either through enabling or perpetuation. The family unit can be affected by a variety of factors.
